Our Named GP
What is a Named GP?
Since April 2014, every patient has an accountable GP—the GP with overall responsibility for the care and support your practice provides. For patients aged 75 and over, having a named accountable GP is especially important for ensuring continuity of care and support.
Your named GP takes overall responsibility for your care pathway and coordinates your treatment, but this does not mean you have to see them for every appointment. You can still see any GP at the practice when you need care.

How Does It Work?
When you register at Bethnal Green Health Centre, you are allocated to one of our named GPs. Your named GP:
- Takes overall responsibility for your care and support
- Coordinates your treatment and ensures joined-up care
- Has access to your medical records and knows your health history
- Can refer you to specialist services when needed
- Works with other healthcare professionals involved in your care
However, you do not have to see your named GP for every appointment. You can request to see any GP at the practice when you need care. Your named GP will still take overall responsibility for your care pathway.
Did you know? Having a named GP improves continuity of care, helps prevent repeated tests and investigations, and ensures someone is coordinating your overall health management.
Patients Aged 75 and Over
We have 387 patients aged 75 and over at Bethnal Green Health Centre, all of whom have a named accountable GP. This ensures that older patients have a single point of accountability for their care and that their complex health needs are properly managed.
Care Home Patients
Patients at Silk Court Care Home have Dr Rofique Ali as their named GP. Dr Rofique Ali provides regular support and oversight for all care home residents to ensure their health and social care needs are coordinated effectively.
